Sept 29--Three Waterfalls

The first day we travelled to the three waterfalls.  The drive was challenging as it took 3 hours instead of the expected 2 hours as there were temple activities.  It was bumper to bumper vehicles as well as scooters everywhere.  There are 2 lanes of traffic with scooters driving down both outside edges as well as the middle between the cars.  Scooters drive inches away from the cars.  After the gruelling drive we arrived at the turnoff for the waterfalls..  It was a narrow road barely a driving lane wide.  The difficulty comes when a vehicle (vehicles in Bali are black or white and occasionally silver as   any other color vehicle is difficult to resell) comes from the other direction as getting past is tricky.  This road turned into two strips of cement about 18" wide so the tires have somewhere to drive on. It was hot out, about 37 with the humidity.  It was a beautiful climb I walked in the pool in barefeet  which was a mistake as the rocks hurt my feet and the big rocks are slippery.  Almost got dunked a couple of times.  The walk up was brutal as I expected.  The heat, the sometimes 12 inch high steps made it a very difficult journey up.  Got a workout and a half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
